Apples and oranges
It's like perma-aircon. For once, I shall not have any qualms about walking around the entire day. Heck, I'm going to come back with really ripped abs. Once I get them, I'm going to post pictures of them here.
In total bimbotic fashion.
Nah, Berkeley is a place where I'm going to explore who I am and what I believe in but I doubt that'll happen. Then again, I'm currently typing this on a MacBook (Yee Mun eat your heart out..whee). I never thought I'd buy a Mac when I got here. In fact, when I went to the campus computer store, I placed an order for a Dell Latitude D620, or so I thought. It would have cost me $1499, prior to taxation. I told my mom, and though she did give me consent; I could feel that she was reluctant to have me splurge so much on a laptop. But it would have had a 256MB nVidia card and fingerprint reader and all T_T. I really didn't sleep that well that night.
I know I'm not rich. I'm very aware of that. All life, I've made my decisions (pertaining to activities, purchases and academics) with that ringing in my head like some sacred mantra. So I went back to the store the next day and found out that my order had never really been made. So I was like - forget it, I'm going to take a Mac. The university offers really good discounts on them. So now mine is 13', with a 1.83GHz Intel dual core, 1 GB ram, 60GB HDD but with a Intel intergrated graphics accelerator and with everything that comes standard with Apple stuff, plus a 3 year international warranty.
But heck, I'm pretty much in love with my MacBook now. With tax, it cost me $1340. What would I really have wanted? There was this totally cool ThinkPad (2.0 GHz dual core, 80 GB HDD, 1 GB ram and everything else that comes standard on a ThinkPad, which is like metal hinges, fingerprint reader, drainage system in the keyboard if you spill anything and so much more. ) It was like $1599 but that was like $1000 cheaper than retail price. Thats the kind of stuff that makes a guy want to justify huge purchases. Tinking of huge, there's this guy on my dorm floor who totally pimped out a Dell Inspiron. Yeah, the Inspiron line is like the cheapest you can get from Dell but his one cost his $2400. And thats with some 30% dscount that he already had. So his is a E1705, where 17 means 17', with a 2.16GHz Intel dual core, 2 GB ram, 100 GB HDD, 256 MB nVidia card and others.
Like, fuyooo.
I wish my parents earned in US dollars. But yeah,I'll stop now before I transmogriphy into some materialistic bitch. There's wifi everywhere, and the food in the dining commons is served buffet style. Its only wednesday but I feel like I've been here forever.
Life is sweet
p.s. I might come back and update that after classes start. This is such a nerd post
